Seekor rakun melintas di tengah taman Central Park di New York, Amerika Serikat.
BintangSBO - Tidak ada keramaian pertandingan softball, kereta kuda, sampai turis. Sebagai gantinya, taman kebanggaan kota New York, Central Park, dihibur oleh kicauan burung selama penguncian (LOCKDOWN) kota demi membatasi penularan pandemi virus corona.
Taman seluas 340 hektare - juga disebut taman kota paling terkenal di dunia - ini biasanya ramai aktivitas manusia saat peralihan dari musim dingin ke musim semi. Tapi tahun ini karena COVID-19, satwa liar yang gantian meramaikan taman.
"Energinya tenang, Anda mendengar burung-burung, Anda mendengar angin," kata mantan penari balet berusia 66 tahun, Timothy Foster, kepada AFP, sambil berjalan dengan anjingnya yang Charlie di dekat area Castle Belvedere.

Lebih dari 40 juta orang mengunjungi Central Park setiap tahunnya, termasuk sejumlah kegiatan komersial seperti tur kereta kuda berpemandu, penjual makanan ringan, pengamen, serta rombongan breakdance.
Banyak yang datang untuk bermain musik di tugu peringatan Strawberry Fields untuk mendiang John Lennon atau berpose di depan air mancur yang menyerupai lokasi adegan pembuka serial 'Friends'.
Tetapi sejak pertengahan Maret, ketika penduduk New York diperintahkan untuk menjaga jarak sosial karena kota tersebut menjadi pusat penyebaran virus virus corona di Amerika, taman ini mendadak sepi.
"Ini jauh lebih tenang, ini bagus. Tetapi meresahkan karena biasanya banyak orang," kata penulis berusia 45 tahun, Carol Hartsell, kepada AFP.
Pemandangan paling ajaib saat ini di taman ialah rumah sakit darurat pasien virus corona, yang berupa 12 tenda berisi 68 tempat tidur, yang berdiri di area timur Central Park.
Virus corona telah membunuh lebih dari 12 ribu orang di New York, serta menginfeksi 223 ribu orang. Wabah ini bertepatan dengan mekarnya pohon sakura dan pohon crabapple di Central Park, serta migrasi burung musim semi di Amerika Utara.
Burung-burung berwarna eksotis terlihat asyik bermain di sekitar pohon tanpa terganggu manusia.

"Anda lebih sering mendengar burung bernyanyi saat ini," kata David Barrett, penulis buku tentang 200 spesies burung yang mampir di Manhattan setiap tahunnya.
"Ada lebih sedikit orang, lebih sedikit anjing, sehingga burung-burung itu tidak ketakutan," katanya kepada AFP. Dan bukan hanya burung-burung saja yang merasa lebih berani.
Ketika AFP mengunjungi taman itu lebih awal pada suatu siang baru-baru ini, seekor rakun terlihat melintas dengan santai tanpa takut terlindas sepeda atau kereta kuda yang biasanya melintasi taman.
Central Park dirancang oleh arsitek Frederick Law Olmsted dan Calvert Vaux pada tahun 1850-an untuk memberi ruang hijau di kota metropolitan New York.
Hingga satu abad kemudian, Central Park masih menjadi ruang terbuka hijau andalan warga New York yang merasa bosan berada di dalam apartemen selama lockdown.

"Taman ini benar-benar memenuhi tujuan aslinya," kata Elizabeth Smith, CEO Central Park Conservancy, sebuah organisasi nirlaba yang memelihara taman tersebut.
"Hampir semua orang yang mendatangi saya berterima kasih atas keberadaan taman ini, apa yang akan kita lakukan tanpanya? Taman ini telah menjadi penyelamat bagi begitu banyak orang," katanya kepada AFP.
Minggu ini, Gubernur Andrew Cuomo memperpanjang penutupan New York - yang memerintahkan penduduk untuk tinggal di rumah kecuali untuk berolahraga dan melakukan bisnis penting lainnya - hingga 15 Mei 2020.
Didi Nitta (75) dengan teropong menggantung di lehernya, mengatakan krisis telah menyoroti betapa pentingnya Central Park bagi kesehatan mental dan fisiknya. "Ini menyenangkan untuk jiwamu. Manhattan tanpa taman ini sulit dibayangkan," katanya.
